Caring for the Caregiver

Being a caregiver can come with some BIG feelings. It’s important you take care of yourself, so you can take care of others. Join us for a workshop designed just for caregivers. The workshop will be facilitated by Marcia Buhler, a Registered Psychologist. She will address the importance of self-care and strategies to identify compassion fatigue and burnout and their symptoms. She will also go over some research-based self-care strategies. This will be an interactive workshop with opportunities for discussion with the presenter and other attendees.   

At the end of this session, you will be able to:
  • Recognize compassion fatigue, burnout, and their symptoms
  • Discuss evidence-based self-care strategies
  • Develop skills to cope with compassion fatigue and burnout
About the Speaker:
 
Marcia Buhler, M.A., R.Psych.  – Marcia is a Registered Psychologist and is a Professional Practice Lead for Addiction and Mental Health, Edmonton Zone, AHS.  She has worked in various settings and has experience providing psychotherapy with children, families, and adults as well as facilitating groups.  She has been providing clinical education to staff for over 10 years with AHS as both a Clinical Education Specialist and also a Professional Practice Lead.
