Ontario Respirology Residents' Symposium 2018

The 22nd annual Ontario Respirology Residents' Symposium is targeted to PGY-4 and PGY-5 residents in the five Ontario Respirology Training Programs. Residents from the University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, McMaster University, Queen’s University, and Western University all attend the symposium, which is held in Toronto in conjunction with the Ontario Thoracic Society’s Better Breathing Conference.

The symposium comprises a series of five lectures and workshops on Saturday afternoon, on topics in Respiratory Medicine. The content is driven by the residents’ learning needs, and lecturers from the five centres are invited by resident representatives, who comprise the organizing committee for the event.

The schedule is as follows:

1:30 Dr. Chandy, University of Ottawa - Pulmonary hypertension update

2:15 Dr. Dhaliwal, University of Western Ontario - Advances in Bronchoscopic Investigation

3:00 Dr. Neder, Queen's University - Interesting CPET cases

3:45 15 minute break

4:00 Dr. Wald, McMaster University - End of life COPD Management

4:45 Dr. Hutcheon, University of Toronto - The Toronto Lung Transplant Program: Past and Present

In addition to enhancing participants’ skills in the Medical Expert role, the Symposium is also an opportunity for residents to make connections with colleagues in other centres, and to promote collaboration amongst future members of the Respirology community.
